The Far de la Mola is a lighthouse ( Far in Catalan ) on the easternmost cape of Formentera , about two kilometers from El Pilar de la Mola .

The first beacon consisted of a catadioptric lens of the 2nd order and was operated with an oil lamp . In 1928 the optics were replaced by a rotating reflector. In 1970 the system was electrified, a three-phase lamp with 3000 watts and two emergency power generators were installed.
The beacon is a code every five seconds a white flash (Fl.W.5s), the pointing right can be seen from 050 to 150 degrees and a range of 23 nautical miles has. It is listed in the Mediterranean Beacon Register under the number E-0250.
In honor of Jules Verne , a memorial stone is placed on the lighthouse because the tower plays a role in the novel Journey through the world of the sun .
