Fara is both a commune ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso , in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and the province of Balé . In 2006 the municipality had 37,294 inhabitants in 22 villages and four sectors of the main town.
