The Farol do Cabo Branco , German lighthouse White Cape , is a lighthouse ( Portuguese Farol ) in the capital João Pessoa of the Brazilian state Paraíba .
description
The architect Pedro Abraão Dieb from Paraíba won a tender in 1972 for a lighthouse with the design of a triangular concrete tower, on the lower half of which three large triangular surfaces protrude symmetrically, which are supposed to represent the sisal plant, once important for the economy of this part of the country, in a stylized way. The lighthouse was inaugurated on April 21, 1972 during the time of the military dictatorship. It was erected on a cliff that is now threatened by sea erosion.
The identifier consists of a white flash with a return of ten seconds (Fl.W.10s), the range is 27 nautical miles . The lighting system was renewed several times.
The Farol do Cabo Branco is a popular viewpoint and tourist point, as the easternmost point of America was once located here, but today it is attributed to Ponta do Seixas and was previously only known as Cabo Branco.
