Farsot ( Swedish for epidemic , proper spelling farsot. ) Is a progressive post-black metal band from Gotha , Thuringia, founded in 1999 .
history
Farsot was founded in 1999 under the name Hagelsturm in Gotha. In 2001 the first demo appeared in the twilight of my dull 'life , which was limited to 60 units. Three years later, the second demo was released under the title 042103Freitod , which attracted much more attention and was limited to 500 copies.
Under the wing of Dark Fortress guitarist V. Santura, the debut album IIII was created , which was released in October 2007 via Lupus Lounge , a record company belonging to Prophecy Productions . Four years later, the second album, Insects, was released, this time recorded by Markus Stock in the Klangschmiede Studio E in Mellrichstadt . Between the release of the first and second album, Farsot completed two concert tours, including one with Dark Fortress and Serpentcult .
In April 2017, almost six years after Insects , Fail • Lure was released, the band's third studio album.
Music and lyrics
On the second demo 042103Freitod , Farsot played, according to Karolina Pytlarczyk, a "skilful and harmonious mixture of the experimental (which the number combination probably stands for) and atmospheric, sometimes infernal and threatening elements typical of raw Black Metal ". Captain Chaos von Vampster sees Farsot stylistically between Nocte Obducta and Lunar Aurora . According to 3818.w, the musicians avoid such contributions, but he explained that at times one cannot avoid such comparisons, not least because of the now high production quality. On Failure , the musicians increasingly turn to the melancholic and sometimes explosive Post-Metal , which now and then come up with interlaced Black Metal interjections. The resulting musical contrasts show the development of the music with “fantastic melodies and encoded epics that can be traced back to the progressive past” following a new avant-garde aspiration.
The lyrics were mainly written in German on the first publications . With the release of the second album, Insects , the musicians wrote pieces in English for the first time . In terms of text, the texts are mainly about people. Insects describes the comparison between people who describe themselves as "the crowning glory of creation" with insects who are degraded to vermin by them. At the beginning of the career, the lyrics revolved around the content typical of Depressive Black Metal .
