Farukolhufushi ( Thaana : ފަރުކޮޅުފުށި), or Faru for short , is a hotel island in the Maldives in the North Malé Atoll ( Kaafu administrative atoll ).

The island is about 900 meters long in north-south direction and a maximum of 250 meters wide in west-east direction and thus has a narrow, elongated shape. Farukolhufushi is located on the eastern edge of the atoll on the same coral ridge as the artificial island of Hulhumalé, which was built in 1997, 500 meters south and the airport island of Hulhulé, which is about 3 kilometers away . Faru can be reached by boat through a canal in the reef; the journey time to the airport is about 10 minutes by speedboat. The next neighboring island to the west is Kurumba , directly to the north is Furana .

Club Med established a resort ( Club Med Faru ) on Farukolhufushi as early as 1978 , making the island one of the oldest tourist islands in the country. Due to its location on the eastern edge of the Maldives, Farukolhufushi was badly damaged by the 2004 tsunami . The island was then sold by Club Med and rebuilt as Club Faru , while Club Med built a new resort further north on Kanifinolhu . Since its reopening, Club Faru, which is operated by the same entrepreneur as Fihalhohi in the South Malé Atoll , has 152 rooms in two-story buildings.

In January 2015, construction work began to further enlarge the artificial island of Hulhumalé , as part of which Farukolhufushi was connected to it by filling it up and thus became part of Hulhumalé.
