In addition, she also follows the adventures of the two with their friends outside of the show as well as their worries and problems in everyday school life. The concept of Shake it Up is to create a comedy series for girls that is also about dancing. The Dance Concept is the third Disney series after Jett Jackson and Sonny Munroe to use the TV-show-in-a-TV-show format.

action

The series tells of the adventures of the two best friends CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue in Chicago , who fulfill their lifelong dream of becoming professional dancers through their work as background dancers on the local dance show Shake It Up, Chicago . In addition, the two continue to go to a normal public school , the John Hughes High School, with Deuce Martinez, Rockie's brother Ty Blue and the two unloved European exchange students Gunther and Tinka Hessenheffer, who also work as background dancers at Shake It Up, Chicago .

The action begins a few days before an audition for the dance show Shake It Up, Chicago , which her longtime friend Deuce points out to her. While Rocky makes it into the show straight away, this CeCe helps to get into the show with a risky move. In the following episodes, CeCe and Rocky and their friends plunge into funny and often bizarre adventures.

With a few exceptions, the episodes are self-contained and essentially return to the original situation at the end, with connection errors also being accepted .

characters

The series' two leading actresses: Zendaya Coleman and Bella Thorne

The main characters of Shake It Up are the two protagonists CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, CeCes younger brother Flynn Jones, Rocky's older brother Ty Blue, her boyfriend Deuce Martinez and the exchange students Gunther and Tinka Hessenheffer. The plot of the individual episodes mainly relates to the two main characters, although the story of one or two other characters is also told.

CeCe Jones

Cecelia Jones, called by everyone just CeCe, is one of the two main characters in the series. She is a funny and open-minded girl, is not afraid of big goals and doesn't let anyone or anything stop her on her way to the desired, big success. She is Rocky's best friend and also gave her the necessary motivation to take part in the show. CeCe is Flynn's older sister and is also dyslexic . She therefore has difficulty learning, but this improves as the series progresses. However, because of her behavior, she often gets into arguments with the teachers at school.

Rocky Blue

Raquel Blue, just called Rocky by everyone, is the second main character in the series. In contrast to her best friend CeCe, she is very smart and holds the absolute attendance record at school. CeCe gave her the nickname "Rocky" when they met for the first time at the age of five. Compared to CeCe, she is the better of the two, always optimistic and wants to be liked by everyone. She is the first to get a seat at Shake It Up, Chicago . Rocky is also a vegetarian and supports animal rights .

Flynn Jones

Flynn Jones is CeCe's younger brother and very developed spiritually for his age. He loves bacon, video games and bugging his sister. His best friend is CeCe's former math tutor, a college graduate named Henry Dillon, who is about his age. Flynn is also good friends with Ty and Deuce. Every time someone knocks on the door or the phone rings, Flynn yells through the apartment, "I'm going, mom" ( English I'll get it, mom! ).

Ty Blue

Ty Blue is Rocky's older brother and also an aspiring actor and rapper . He's also a talented dancer , but didn't take the chance to perform at Shake It Up, Chicago , as he says he's only dancing for himself. He, Deuce and Flynn are good friends, although he and Deuce have a strange friendship.

Deuce Martinez

Martin Martinez, just called Deuce by everyone, is CeCes and Rocky's clever friend. At school, he runs a small shop out of his jacket pocket where he sells random things. Deuce is of Cuban American descent and can speak Spanish fluently. In the second season he takes a job in his uncle Frank's pizzeria. He, Ty and Flynn are good friends, although he and Ty have a strange friendship.

Gunther Hessenheffer

Gunther Hessenheffer is the extravagant dizygoti twin brother of Tinka, who came to Chicago as an exchange student from a small country in the mountains in Europe in first grade . He and his sister are also background dancers at Shake It Up, Chicago and so-called "Frenemies" from CeCe and Rocky. In addition, the two belong to a royal family, as their mother was a princess

Tinka Hessenheffer

Tinka Hessenheffer is the dizygoti twin sister of Gunther, who came to Chicago as an exchange student from a small country in the mountains in Europe in the first grade. She and her brother are also background dancers at Shake It Up, Chicago and so-called "Frenemies" from CeCe and Rocky. Tinka's clothes are always eye-catching and covered with glitter.
