Fast food theater

The Fastfood Theater (spelling: fastfood theater ) is a German improvisational theater group from Munich.

The Fast Food Theater was founded in 1991 by theater studies students at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , following a two-semester colloquium on the subject of "improvisational theater" with Christopher Balme . After the debut on the studio stage, the first public appearances followed under the name of fastfood theater in the Munich theater Heppel & Ettlich .

In 1992 Susanne Brantl , Bernhard Ulrich , Karin Brandstetter (now married Krug), Roland Trescher , Andreas Wolf and Gabriele Heller founded the first improvisation theater in Munich - with the name "fastfood theater Improvisation eV".

In 1993 the Fast Food Theater took part in the “1. German Championship in Theater Sports ”in Dortmund.

In 1994 the members of the Fast Food Theater founded the first school for improvisational theater in Germany (today: improvisation school), in which interested lay and professional actors can learn, deepen and expand techniques of improvisational theater.

In 1996 the Fast Food Theater in Munich's Muffathalle organized the “1. International improvisational theater festival “with u. a. Keith Johnstone out. Part of the festival is the “3. German Championship in Theater Sports ", which the Fast Food Theater wins with the title of" German Master in Theater Sports ". The event will be accompanied on film by the two directors and film producers Haro Senft and Gerald Fritzen. The result is the documentary How life plays .

In 2002 Andreas Wolf took over the artistic direction of the ensemble. In the following year, the ensemble was given a teaching position in "Improvisation" at the Bavarian Theater Academy August-Everding .

Andreas Wolf and the musician Michael Armann jointly found the "opera players", an improvising opera ensemble that will go into business in 2007. The "opera players" appear from 2008 under the name "La Triviata".

In 2003, Yusuf Demirkol founded a Turkish improvisational theater group within the Fast Food Theater: “Impro à la turka” was part of the theater until 2007 and from then on was an independent group, especially active in the socio-cultural field.

In 2007, Karin Krug and Andreas Wolf founded and headed the “impro company GbR” as a further line of business for the area of ​​“event design, training and coaching” in addition to the fast food theater.

Venues and venues

Since January 2016, the Fast Food Theater has been performing regularly at the slaughterhouse in Munich with its Monday show "Best of Life". In 2005 the fastfood theater established an international tournament format with the “fastfood IMPROCUP”, in which improvisers compete against each other in two teams. The "fastfood IMPROCUP" has taken place every year since 2004. It comprises three rounds (quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals) and is played in knockout mode on six dates between January and June.

Other regular venues are the Kulturhaus Kresslesmühle in Augsburg (since 1994), the Bürgerhaus Ingolstadt (since 1998) and the Alte Mälzerei in Regensburg (since 1994).

On behalf of the Goethe Institute, the ensemble has been involved in international cultural exchange since 2000. The players followed the invitation to a tour in Brazil (2000) and in the following years were guests in Serbia (2001), France (2002), Poland (2002, 2004, 2011, 2013), Sweden (2003) Italy (2007), Bulgaria (2015) and Turkey (2015, 2016).
