Fatau Dauda (actually Abdul Fatawu Dauda ; born April 6, 1985 in Obuasi ) is a Ghanaian soccer goalkeeper.

Career

Dauda was under contract from 2006 to 2013 at the Ghanaian club Ashanti Gold SC , where he was a regular goalkeeper. In 2008 he was nominated as one of five goalkeepers for the award "Goalkeeper of the year" of the Ghana Premier League , but the award ultimately went to the Burkinabe Soulama Abdoulaye .

With the Ghanaian national team he took part in the Africa Cup of Nations in his home country in 2008 and finished third with his team. However, he was not used as the third goalkeeper. He made his national team debut in March 2008 in a friendly against Mexico . At first he did not come to regular international appearances. Neither at the 2010 World Cup nor at the 2012 African Cup of Nations, Dauda was part of the Ghanaian squad.

Dauda made his breakthrough in the national team after James Kwesi Appiah became national coach in 2012. Under Appiah Dauda took part in the African Cup of Nations 2013 as a regular goalkeeper and convinced with good performances. Then the Orlando Pirates became aware of him, to whom he switched in the summer of 2013. However , he could not prevail against regular goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa there. In his first season in South Africa, he only played three games. Nevertheless, he is part of the Ghanaian squad at the 2014 World Cup .
