history

The company's origins include the Nuremberg foundry founded in 1845 by Justus Christian Braun , which specialized in fire extinguishing equipment. A few years later, the development and manufacture of new sweepers followed. In 1969 the Büssing AG plant in Osterholz-Scharmbeck was taken over by FAUN-Werke. In 1973 municipal vehicle production was relocated to Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

In 1976 a pan-European sales network was set up and all export activities expanded. The vehicle range was consistently expanded during these years, for example in 1983 with the takeover of KUKA Umwelttechnik GmbH and its well-known rotating drums for refuse collection vehicles. The Swiss company J. Ochsner AG and Grange SA in France strengthened the group of companies. In 1994 it was taken over by the Kirchhoff Group. The name was changed to FAUN Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG one year later. In addition to Kirchhoff Automotive , Witte Werkzeuge and REHA Group Automotive, FAUN is a division of the Kirchhoff Group.

In 1997 a new production hall was built in North Wales. In 2002, the world's most modern production plant for waste collection vehicles was inaugurated in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. In the following year, FAUN Services GmbH was founded, its own company for the purchase and sale of used vehicles, as well as the preparation of rental and leasing offers.

In 2008, diesel-electric refuse collection vehicles were developed.

Production sites

The main production plant for refuse collection vehicles is located in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Another can be found in Guilherand Grange near Valence (France). Sweepers are manufactured in Grimma (Saxony).
