The 8th women's fistball world championship took place from July 24th to 28th, 2018 in Linz ( Austria ). After the finals in 1998 , the Austrian city hosted a women's fistball world championship for the second time . The defending champion was the German women's national team , who won the 2016 final against the then hosts Brazil 4-2.

The World Cup in Austria was organized by the International Fistball Association (IFA) in cooperation with Faustball Austria (ÖFBB) and the Upper Austrian Fistball Association (OÖFBV).

The German women's national team became world champions for the sixth time and for the third time in a row.

A total of eleven nations from three different regional associations took part in the 2018 IFA Women's Fistball World Cup. With New Zealand, Belgium, Poland and Serbia, four national women's teams also took part in a fistball world championship for the first time.

President's Cup (places 9 to 11)

The President's Cup was held for the first time at a women's world championship in fistball. The two losers of the qualification for double elimination , Belgium and New Zealand, as well as the Czech Republic as the last of group B participated. First, a simple round-robin tournament was played. The two group winners then determined the winner of the President's Cup in a final - at the same time the game for 9th place in the World Cup.

The organizing committee was able to win the Austrian sports broadcaster ORF Sport Plus as media partner of the 2018 women's fistball world championship . The television station broadcast the semi-final match of the Austrian team, the match for the bronze medal and the final between Germany and Switzerland live. The semifinals between Brazil and Germany were broadcast live in the ORF media library. Johannes Hahn accompanied the game as commentator and was supported by co-commentator Klemens Kronsteiner, former national player of the Austrian men's national team.
