Faustine Lucie Merret (born March 13, 1978 in Brest ) is a former French windsurfer .
successes
Faustine Merret took part in two Olympic Games . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she took first place with 31 points ahead of Yin Jian and Alessandra Sensini and thus became Olympic champion . Four years later , she did not get past eleventh place in Beijing . Merret won eight medals at world championships between 1998 and 2006 , including six bronze and two silver medals. At European Championships between 1997 and 2008 she won three bronze and three silver medals.
For her Olympic victory she received the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honor in September 2004 . After the 2008 Games, she ended her career.
