ISAF World Sailing Championships 2003
The 1st ISAF World Sailing Championships took place from September 11th to 24th, 2003 in Cádiz on the south coast of Spain . The regattas were held in the sailing area around the Gulf of Cádiz .
A total of eleven competitions were held in different boat classes, four for men and women and three open competitions. Ten to twelve regattas including a final medal regatta were held for each competition. All competitions were held as a fleet race . More than 1450 sailors and 993 boats from 71 nations took part in the competitions.
The world championships were also the main qualification competitions for the sailing competitions at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . 75% of all quota places were allocated here.
Results
The placements in the individual regattas of a competition are converted into points. The result of the worst placement is not taken into account as a deletion result. The addition of the points determines the final placement, with the boat with the lowest number of points winning.
