Febres is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Cantanhede . It has 3352 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The city bears the name ("fever") due to the earlier malaria contamination of the humid region. A cult of Mary developed here in the 17th century , which should help to cure fever.
Personalities
The poet and novelist Carlos de Oliveira lived here from 1923 to 1949 .
