Federico Albanese (* 1982 in Milan ) is an Italian composer , pianist and music producer . His music contains elements of neo-classical as well as pop and ambient music .

Life

As a child, Albanese learned to play the piano and clarinet . Later he decided to study bass guitar . Influenced by black music , folk and electronic music as well as modern and contemporary classical music , the first compositional works were created.

In 2007 Albanese founded the avant-garde duo "La Blanche Alchimie" with the singer Jessica Einaudi , a daughter of Ludovico Einaudi , and released two albums with her. In 2014 Albanese produced J Moon's debut album Melt , Jessica Einaudi's solo project.

In spring 2014 he released his solo piano debut The Houseboat and the Moon on Denovali Records . Albanese recorded all piano parts with a German tape recorder from 1969, the Uher Royal Deluxe . He occasionally combines this special sound of the piano with electronic elements, string arrangements and recordings of self-developed instruments.

In addition, Albanese has written and produced music for various commercials and films. His scores can be heard in the international film productions Shadows In The Distance (2012) by Orlando Bosch, Alles im Grünbereich ( 2014) by Bahar Ebrahim and the ARTE documentary Cinema Perverso (2015) by Oliver Schwehm . He has also produced the music for image films for the fashion labels Louis Vuitton (2012), Zegna (2013), Philip Lim (2014), Ermanno Scervino (2014), Hugo Boss (2016).

Albanese's second album The Blue Hour (2016) was released by the newly founded label Neue Meister. The instrumentation starts with a piano and synthesizer and is supplemented by a cello, which has been amplified by over-dubbing and sound effects, and then grows into a chamber orchestra . In the context of the release of The Blue Hour , Albanese played numerous concerts across Europe, including the Womad Festival (UK), the Montreal Jazz Festival (CH) and the SXSW in Austin, Texas (USA).

Awards

  • 2012: Nomination for the “ German Record Critics ' Award ” in the “Best Independent Album” category, with “Galactic Boredom”.
  • 2019: Nomination for “ Opus Klassik ” with “By The Deep Sea” in the category “Composer of the Year”, “Instrumentalist in Piano”, “Classical Music Without Borders” and “Solo Instrument Recording”.
