Federico Consolo

Federico Consolo (also known under the Sephardic Hebrew name Jehel Nahamán ; born April 8, 1841 in Ancona ; died December 14, 1906 in Florence ) was an Italian violinist and composer.

biography

Born into a Jewish family from Spain, he studied violin and composition with Ferdinando Giorgetti in Florence and in Brussels with Henri Vieuxtemps . Federico Consolo gave concerts all over Europe successfully until neurological problems occurred. In 1891 he published the two-volume collection Sefer Shire Yisrael ( Libro dei Canti d'Israel ) on behalf of the Jewish community of Livorno , which contains Sephardic synagogue melodies and his own sacred compositions.
