Federico Ibarra Groth

Federico Ibarra Groth (* 1946 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican composer.

So far he has written numerous symphonies, operas, chamber music , songs, ballet and theater music. Among other things, his opera “Alicia” was awarded a “Jacinto e Inocencia Guerrero” special prize in Madrid in 1991 as the best lyrical work. His works have also been performed, recorded and published in Australia, France, Poland, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brazil and the United States.

biography

Ibarra studied composition at the Escuela Nacional de Música (ENM) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and was a student of Jean-Etienne Marie . As a scholarship holder of the UNAM radio station, he then continued his education in France and Spain.

Ibarra was musical director of the Micrópera de México and headed the composition teaching workshop of the Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información Musical (CENIDIM). He heads the chamber opera training workshop at the Escuela Nacional de Música and is also a member of the pilot training workshop for composition. He is the musical director of the municipal Camerópera (de la Ciudad) , is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte des Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) and the Academia de Artes .
