Federico Longo (born January 15, 1972 in Rome ) is an Italian conductor and composer .

Life

Federico Longo obtained the “Diploma di Alto Perfezionamento” for orchestral conducting at the “Accademia Musicale Pescarese” under Donato Renzetti and the masterclass of the University of Music in Vienna , then studied with Gianluigi Gelmetti at the courses of the Accademia Chigiana di Siena , where he was awarded the honorary diploma. In 2003 he received the first prize from the Boris Christoff Foundation. After the debut concert in 2003 as part of the "Master Series" he developed an intense relationship with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra by participating in four editions of the Shock of the New concert series and the Meet the Music series and a number of recordings for the ABC label realized. In Germany he worked on productions such as Eugene Onegin and Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic at the Chemnitz Opera House. With the Saxon Chamber Philharmonic, he took part in the reconstruction concert in the Dresden Frauenkirche. He was also musical director of the Kammerphilharmonie Berlin-Brandenburg for several years, with which he made his debut at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2007. In Italy Federico Longo et al. a. conducts the following orchestras: Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova , Orchestra Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini di Parma, Orchestra del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma , Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo. A staunch advocate of contemporary music, Federico Longo has directed world premieres by leading Italian composers. His recordings include piano concertos by Mozart with the Marc Aurel label and three CDs by the Leipzig label Genuin with works by CPE Bach and Mendelssohn. The “Concert for Ethiopia”, which he founded and directs, has been taking place in Rome every year since 2004. He is also the musical director of the Libera Università dei Diritti Umani , for which he regularly gives concerts with the “LUNID” orchestra he founded.
