The cornucopia fedie ( Fedia cornucopiae ) is a species of the genus Fedia in the subfamily of the valerian family (Valerianoideae).

The cornucopia fedie is an annual plant that reaches heights of 3 to 30 centimeters. It is bald, upright to ascending, forked and somewhat plump. The leaves are spatulate to elliptical and opposite. The lower leaves are entire, more or less petiolate and 2 to 15 centimeters long. The upper ones are seated, short-toothed and smaller.

The flowers are united to form pairs of terminal heads. At the time of fruiting, the flower stalks are inflated. The ovary is subordinate. The calyx is a ring-shaped, non-enlarging bulge. The corolla is purple and 8 to 16 millimeters long. Your tube is slightly bulbous, curved and up to 4 millimeters long. The five corners are mottled pink, flat and uneven. Usually there are two stamens.

The fruit is broadly ovate and has greatly enlarged sterile parts.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.

Systematics

Fedia cornucopiae was 1790 by Joseph gardener in De fructibus et Seminibus Plantarum , Volume 2, Number 1, page 37, Table 86, Figure 3, first described . Basionym is Valeriana cornucopiae , which was published in 1753 by Carl von Linné in Species Plantarum , Volume 1, page 31. Synonyms for Fedia cornucopiae are Fedia graeca Dufr. , Fedia incrassata Moench , Fedia langei Pomel , Fedia scorpioides Dufr. and Mitrophora cornucopiae ( L. ) Raf.
