The Feilenmoos is a 17 square kilometer, former moorland near the confluence of the Paar in the Danube . Half of the area lies within the boundaries of the town of Geisenfeld and the market in Manching in Upper Bavaria . As a result of the drainage and cultivation operated by the Bavarian State Institute for Moor Management from 1908, agricultural areas were created, the Baumannshof Moorgut and, from 1918, the Forstwiesen settlement, which is located on State Road 2335, which runs through the Feilenmoos and which, at that time, is a strictly laid out street village and stands out with its uniform settlement houses. The settlement had around 135 inhabitants in 2007 and is a district of Manching.

Gut Baumannshof is now a test station of the Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture and has over 145 hectares of agricultural land in Feilenmoos. The main focus of the experiments is the preservation of the Pinzgauer breed of livestock , feeding experiments with fattening pigs and the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants. The property was the subject of protests from various environmental initiatives because in 2007 genetically modified potatoes of the "Walli" variety were grown on 4,000 square meters and in 2008 genetically modified maize from the Monsanto company was to be planted .

As a result of the gravel extraction that has been carried out for several decades, almost half of the area of the Feilenmoos consists of quarry ponds, which are also used as a local recreation area. The northernmost part of the Feilenmoos is taken by the Ingolstadt-Manching airfield , the western border is formed by the federal motorway 9 .
