The Feistmantel Valley is a fossil-bearing valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Allan Hills , it is south of the Shimmering Icefield and west of Mount Watters .
The valley was explored in 1964 by a team working in the Allan Hills as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program . She named the valley after the geologist and palaeontologist Ottokar Feistmantel (1848-1891), a pioneer in researching the flora of the Triassic in Gondwana based on finds in India .
