Langsyne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Langsyne (lɑŋˈsəin) was a German psychfolk band that sang mainly in English and released two richly orchestrated LPs.

history

Langsyne were founded around 1969 by Egbert Fröse (born 1952 in Barmen ) and Ulrich Nähle (born 1952 in Elberfeld ), albeit not under this name at the time. It comes from the Scots and means something like "long since". In 1976, Matthias Mertler joined the company as the third man. With this line-up, they recorded their LP Langsyne in the same year , which was released in late 1976 with an edition of just 200 - the money wasn't enough for more. The first edition of the record is now a sought-after collector's item and sells for around € 1000–2000 in top condition. There are now several new editions of it. In 2016, the LP Langsyne 2 was released with recordings that were then unreleased.
