Felicity Lott

Dame Felicity Lott , DBE (born May 8, 1947 in Cheltenham ) is an English opera and concert singer (mezzo-soprano).

Life

Felicity Lott originally wanted to become an interpreter, but took singing lessons at the age of 12 and decided, now in Grenoble , to go back to London and study singing. She completed her studies at the Royal Academy of Music from 1969 to 1973. Two years later she made her debut at the English National Opera as Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute .

Her career brought the soprano to all the major opera houses in the world, and one of her star roles was Marschallin in Richard Strauss ' Der Rosenkavalier .

She is also one of the leading singers of her generation in the song and concert sector and works with all the important conductors.

Felicity Lott has received numerous honorary doctorates. In 1990 she was appointed Officier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government and in 2001 she was made Knight of the French Legion of Honor . In 1996, she became Queen Elizabeth II. To Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire appointed. Since 2003 she has also been a Bavarian Chamber singer .
