Feliks Janiewicz (* 1762 in Vilnius ; † 21 May 1848 in Edinburgh ) was a Polish-British composer and violinist .

Life

Janiewicz had been a violinist in the Royal Chapel in Warsaw since 1777 . King Stanislaus II August made it possible for him to study music in Nancy . Janiewicz traveled to Vienna and Italy and later lived in Paris and London . Eventually he settled in Liverpool as a music dealer. He became a member of the London Philharmonic Society , whose concerts he conducted as Kapellmeister . From 1815 he lived as a conductor of the Musical Society in Edinburgh.

He composed five violin concertos , six divertimenti , six trios for two violins and cello, duos for violin, piano pieces and vocal works. In addition, he arranged works by other composers for the violin.
