Career

Del Río Crespo initially worked as a pilot in civil aviation and from 1933 for the military. In the civil war he took the side of the republic. He first flew a bomber of the type Breguet 19 and later a Polikarpov I-15 . On April 15, 1937, near Bilbao , he succeeded in shooting down a Dornier Do 17 , a relatively new bomber that was considered unassailable because of its speed.
