Felix Guerlin

Felix Guerlin (born June 11, 1870 in Berlin , † March 11, 1947 in Greifswald ; full name: Felix Edouard Antoine Guerlin ) was a librarian and writer.

Life

Felix Guerlin came from a Huguenot family. After graduating from the Royal French Gymnasium in Berlin in 1899, he studied classical and Germanic philology, archeology and art history at the Berlin University . Through his work in the Siamese legation in Berlin and in the "German Library for Foreigners" he acquired extensive language skills and finally mastered 13 languages.

From 1919 he was library secretary at Greifswald University Library and from 1926 library inspector.

Guerlin was a member of the "Greifswalder Authors' Publication Community" and published poems, reports, reviews and essays. He belonged to the Reichsbund for physical exercises , founded the Greifswald swimming club and organized the annual "permanent swimming" in the Danish Wiek . In 1926 he also made a deserving contribution to the construction of the Volksstadion .
