The Fellhornbahn is a two-section cable car that leads from the Birgsautal in Oberstdorf to the Fellhorn - 1,967 meters above sea level .

Fellhornbahn I

The Fellhornbahn I , a large-cabin aerial tramway built by Habegger , went into operation in 1972. It has a length of 2,868.60 m and overcomes a height difference of 863 m. The two carrying ropes of the two lanes each have a diameter of 50 mm, the pull rope a diameter of 28 mm. The lift, designed as a large cable car with 2 cabins for 100 people each, is driven by a motor with 552 kW power in the valley station. The first section has three supports; these are 54, 51 and 24 m high. Since the construction of the parallel Fellhornbahn II (see below), the Fellhornbahn I is mainly used in summer.

Fellhornbahn II

In the winter of 2006/2007 was of Leitner built new orbit Fellhornbahn II opened with 8-seater cabins, which runs parallel to the first section. Over a length of 2813 m, it overcomes a height difference of 855 m. As a special feature, it has a middle station at a height of around 1300 m, where you can get on and off and where the garage for the cabins is located. Although the cabins in the station are engaged and disengaged, the orbit has only one section, as the hoisting rope runs continuously from the valley to the mountain station, is driven in the mountain station and hydraulically tensioned in the valley station. At a maximum speed of 6 m / s (21.6 km / h) it has a conveying capacity of 2400 people per hour. It is Germany's longest single-cable gondola. The Faistenoy – Höfle double chairlift and the Höfle drag lift have therefore been dismantled.

Fellhorn summit lift

The Fellhorn summit lift, completed in 1973, is 845.18 m long and has two supports. It overcomes a height difference of 190 m. The drive takes place with an output of 283 kW in the middle station. The two suspension ropes of the second section have a diameter of 39 mm, the pull rope has a diameter of 20 mm. The summit lift has only one lane on which a cabin for 60 passengers drives back and forth. With a speed of max. 8 m / s (28.8 km / h), the cabin achieves a conveying capacity of 450 people per hour over the short distance.
