Fellsilent (also spelled FellSilent , Fell Silent and FELLSILENT ) were a progressive metal band from Milton Keynes , United Kingdom . The band played an important role within the British progressive metal scene. The bands TesseracT and Monuments emerged from it .

history

In 2003 Neema Askari, John Browne, Alec Kahney, Max Robinson and Christopher Mansbridge formed the band Fellsilent. Two years later, the band signed their first record deal with Basick Records , which was also founded in 2005, making them the first band under the label's umbrella. The recordings for the first EP The Double 'A' , which was released in December of the same year, followed . Since the songs on the EP sometimes contained song sequences that were superimposed on each other, which could not be performed live, the band started looking for a second singer and finally found what they were looking for in Joe Garrett. In addition, Joe Garrett played guitar and was thus able to help out as the third guitarist on live performances.

In August 2008 the band released their debut album The Hidden Words , which was followed by a joint tour with Enter Shikari . After the band sent a copy of their first album to Ash Avildsen, founder of the Sumerian Records label , and convinced him to release it in North America , the album was announced for early March next year. As a little foretaste of the upcoming release, the band should appear as part of the Crush Em 'All Tour alongside After the Burial , Veil of Maya and ABACABB . However, the band canceled the planned US tour at short notice for financial reasons. The Hidden Words was released as planned on March 3rd in the US and Canada .

Shortly after the album was released in North America, the band announced the departure of guitarist Alec Kahney, who now wanted to devote himself entirely to his project TesseracT, which was becoming increasingly popular. The band tried to cast a new guitarist via the social network MySpace , but the search was unsuccessful. Despite all of this, the band continued to work on their second studio album. A year later, in April 2010, the band announced their final breakup via MySpace. While Alec continued to play with TesseracT, Neema Askari and John Browne worked hard on their band Monuments, which they had formed a year earlier. Singers Joe Garrett and Christopher Mansbridge built the alternative rock band Sonick Movement .
