Rock carving Massleberg 1
The rock carving Massleberg 1 ( RAÄ number: Skee 614: 1) is located near Strömstad in Bohuslän in northern Sweden , about 80 m from the Massleberg burial ground . There are several, partly overlapping incisions from the Bronze Age on the outcrop .
In addition to countless bowls , ithyphallic men, some of whom carry or hold up axes , lances or swords , soles of the feet , a latticework, a wheel cross , small and large ships, animals ( deer and dogs ) and difficult to understand representations are shown. The small lines in the ships symbolize the crew. The "hooks" on the ship pictures represent Lurs .
The inaccurate depiction of a man carrying a ship is derived from more accurate ship jack depictions on other rocks in Bohuslän. So it must be a myth of the Nordic imagination.
