Ferdinand Weerth monument
The Ferdinand Weerth Monument is a small monument in Detmold to commemorate the former superintendent Ferdinand Weerth in Lippe . The 1901 monument is a listed building. It stands on Weerth-Platz within sight of the building of the former teachers ' college where Weerth taught. It was designed by the Detmold architect Otto Kuhlmann .

The monument made of reddish sandstone blocks stands on a square floor plan. It has the shape of a tiered obelisk . There are pillars with cube capitals at the four corners . The memorial shows a relief bust with Weerth's face facing Leopoldstrasse, with the inscription WEERTH underneath. At the top is the coat of arms of the city of Detmold. A black granite slab is embedded opposite. It bears the inscription
- “IN MEMORY OF THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT FERDINAND WEERTH, HIGHLY DESERVED FOR THE SCHOOLING IN LIPPE. GEST ON JUNE 1, 1774. DEDICATED ON OCT. 18, 1836 BY ITS MANY ADORER. "
Here the Lippe rose is attached to the tip . On the northern corner a little above the base is carved:

In the original design, flat steps led to the monument.
The foundation stone contains Ferdinand Weerth's biography as well as a copy of his hymn book and his guide for religious instruction.
