Ferdinand Blumentritt
Ferdinand Blumentritt (born September 10, 1853 in Prague , † September 20, 1913 in Leitmeritz , Bohemia ) was an Austrian ethnographer , teacher and high school director in Leitmeritz.
Ferdinand Blumentritt was one of the best experts on the Philippines during his lifetime , although he never set foot on it. A street and a light rail station in Manila are named after him. Blumentritt was friends with the Filipino national hero José Rizal .
