Ferdinand Gottlieb Flechtner (born June 11, 1811 in Langenbielau ; † June 20, 1867 there ) was a German textile manufacturer .

Factory founder

Flechtner was the son of Johann Gottlieb Flechtner (1767 to 1830) and Eleonore Süssmann. His father had moved from Neu-Bielau (after 1945: Bielawa Nowa) to Ober-Bielau (after 1945: Bielawa Górna) and founded a bleaching factory there. He later sold the business and provided his four children with substantial financial assets. In 1829 Ferdinand Gottlieb Flechtner invested his legacy and that of one of his two sisters in founding the textile factory, publishing and weaving mill GF Flechtner , and later also the spinning mill GF Flechtner in Langenbielau (after 1945: Bielawa), Niederstadt district.

With the help of a loan from the important Wroclaw textile wholesaler Mayer, Flechtner was able to buy four weaving machines in England in 1840 for 50,000 thalers and had them transported to Langenbielau by rail and from Wroclaw on horse-drawn wagons over bridges that were partially reinforced. The mechanical looms could still be installed and put into operation in the factory in 1840. Thus, the Flechtner publishing weaving mill was the first mechanical colored weaving mill in Silesia. Flechtner's factory was not directly affected by the weavers' uprising in Peterswaldau and Langenbielau in 1844 , unlike the factories of the manufacturers Gebrüder Zwanziger and Dierig as well as Andretzky and Hilbert, which were contested and partly destroyed. The Flechtner brand became known primarily in eastern Germany for the inlets produced in Langenbielau . At the time of the expropriation of the company in 1945, the annual turnover was around 12 million Reichsmarks, and 1,200 workers were employed.

family

Flechtner was married twice. The first marriage to a Miss Creby gave birth to the three children Philipp, Richard and Marie, from the second marriage to Agnes Gründler (1823 to 1903) another seven descendants: Reinhold, Martha, Konrad, Gustav, Laura, Arthur and Gertrud. Philipp and Reinhold († 1919) Flechtner took over the textile factory, Arthur Philipp Flechtner , the youngest son, later became general.
