Ferdinand Hahn

Karl Franziskus Wilhelm Ferdinand (born May 26, 1845 in Friedberg , † December 12, 1906 in Magdeburg ) was a German insurance specialist.

Hahn was the son of a businessman and later an insurance agent in Friedberg, Hesse. He studied law in Leipzig and Gießen from 1862 to 1866 and received his doctorate in Gießen. He then worked in the civil service for a few years before he became inspector of the Magdeburg Fire Insurance Company in 1868 . In 1871, after the death of his father, he took over his general agency for the Magdeburg insurance group.

In 1870 he married Martha Koch, daughter of Friedrich Koch , who had been general director of the Magdeburg hail insurance company since 1858.

In 1889 he was appointed director and one year later, following the death of his father-in-law, as general director of the Magdeburger Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG founded by Friedrich Knoblauch . He also became a board member of other insurance companies.

As an advisor to the Reich government, he played a decisive role in drafting legislation on private insurance.

His son was Heinrich Hahn .
