Ferdinand Holzach (engineer)

Ferdinand Holzach (born September 1, 1882 in Basel , † March 11, 1942 in Bern ) was a Swiss engineer and military.

Life

Ferdinand Holzach studied mechanical engineering at the ETH Zurich from 1901 to 1905 . Then he worked first at the Sachsenwerk of Licht- und Kraft AG in Niedersedlitz near Dresden . At the end of 1907 he moved to the Brown, Boveri & Cie. in Mannheim- Käfertal . From 1918 to 1936 he worked for the chemical company Lonza in Basel, first as an electrical engineer, then as head of the operations department. In 1936 he took over the management of the Rialto indoor swimming pool in Basel. When the Second World War broke out, he joined the Artillery Department of the Federal Military Department in Bern. He held the rank of lieutenant colonel.
