Ferdinand Hrach
Ferdinand Hrach (born January 2, 1862 in Vienna , † April 29, 1946 in Kleinzell ) was an Austrian architect .
Life
Ferdinand Hrach studied architecture from 1880 to 1885 at the Technical University of Vienna , among others with Karl König . After passing the state examinations with awards (1881/1886), he completed postgraduate studies from 1885 to 1887 at the Academy of Fine Arts with Friedrich von Schmidt ; at the same time he worked for Wilhelm von Doderer and Karl Mayreder . In 1887 he became an assistant for building construction and architecture at the TH Vienna.
In 1893 he was appointed associate professor for structural engineering, town planning and building laws at the German Technical University in Brno . In addition, he was appointed curator of the kk Central Commission for Monument Preservation. From 1893 he was on the 2nd State Examination Commission for the building trade. A year later, he became a member of the examination committee for the building master's license.
From 1896 to 1932, Hrach was Professor of Building Construction and Architecture at the German Technical University in Brno. From 1898 to 1900 he was dean of the civil engineering school and rector of the university from 1901/02 and 1908/09. In 1916 he was promoted to Dr. techn. PhD.
He worked as an architect mainly for the city of Brno. From 1901 to 1908 he was also active in the city regulatory committee of the Brno City Council. He was on the jury committee for artistic competitions.
