Ferdinand Kuhn
Ferdinand Albert Friedrich Kuhn (born June 1, 1851 in Dresden ; † June 28, 1923 in Mainz ) was a German civil engineering engineer and an honorary citizen of the city of Mainz .
On April 1, 1881, Ferdinand Kuhn became the first engineer at the municipal building department of the city of Mainz under the city master builder Eduard Kreyssig , whose deputy he was. He received the title of Privy Building Councilor from the Grand Ducal Hessian government . From 1881 to 1896 he was head of the civil engineering department. After that he was head of the newly founded building authority until 1915. In addition, from October 1, 1908 to the end of 1915, he was a paid aldermen of the city of Mainz. On December 29, 1915, on the occasion of his retirement, he was made an honorary citizen of Mainz. He is buried in the main cemetery in Mainz .
Ferdinand Kuhn contributed significantly to the urban development of the city of Mainz at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. He was responsible for the city expansion , the port construction , the creation of the industrial area on the Ingelheimer Aue , the construction of the technical operations of the city of Mainz and the electrification of the tram .
