Ferdinand Neuling (born August 22, 1885 in Bautzen , † February 22, 1960 in Hildesheim ) was a German officer , most recently a general of the infantry in World War II .

Life

Newbie joined the Imperial Army on March 25, 1905 as a flag junior. He served as an officer in the First World War . After the war he switched to the Reichswehr and worked as a commander and general staff officer in various units. Newcomer was also in the Army Ordnance Department (W a) of the Defense Ministry 's used. On January 1, 1939, he was promoted to major general. In the Wehrmacht he led the 239th Infantry Division as commander in World War II . On December 1, 1940 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and on October 1, 1942 to General of the Infantry. From September 15, 1942 to August 18, 1944 he was the commanding general of the LXII. Army corps deployed. As such, he was taken prisoner by the US, from which he returned in 1947.
