Ferdinand von Werden

Ferdinand von Werden (officially Von Werden until 1937 ; * July 25, 1880 in Landshut ; † April 10, 1948 in Eichstätt ) was a German Catholic priest and professor of art history at the Eichstätt University of Applied Sciences . He was a clergyman .

His most important achievement lies in the restoration of Eichstätt Cathedral in the war years 1939–45. He was a close colleague of Matthias Ehrenfried , the Bishop of Würzburg from 1924 and a Nazi opponent. In November 1933, von Werden signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . In 1935 he designed the coat of arms for the Eichstätter Bishop Michael Rackl .
