Ferenc Nógrádi

Ferenc Nógrádi , born as Ferenc Neuwirth , (born November 15, 1940 in Košice , Slovakia ; † May 19, 2009 ) was a Hungarian football player .

Athletic career

Nógrádi played for Honvéd Budapest between 1959 and 1966 , the biggest success being winning the Hungarian Cup by beating Gyõri Vasas ETO 1-0 in the final . In 1967 he moved to MTK Budapest FC , for which he was active for one season.

In June 1963 Nógrádi made his debut for the Hungarian national team . In the summer of the following year he was part of the squad for the 1964 European Championship , but did not come under coach Lajos Baróti in the semi-finals in the 2-1 defeat after extra time against Spain or in the 3-1 win after extra time in the game for third place against Denmark used. In the autumn he played four of five games at the Olympic Games , including the 2-1 win in the final against Czechoslovakia . With that he won the gold medal.

After the Olympic Games, he played an international match in 1965 . Since the international appearances at the Olympic Games are not counted by FIFA , he officially played four international games.
