The following list sorts the states and territories of the world according to the number of Internet users and their percentage of the population. An Internet user is defined as a person who has had access to the Internet via any electronic device (computer, smartphone, etc.) in the past 12 months . In 2016, around 47% of the world's population had internet access (more than 3 billion people).
