Fernando Pinto Coelho de Almeida Bello (born September 1, 1924 in Maputo , Mozambique , † November 8, 1995 in Cascais ) was a Portuguese sailor .

successes

Fernando Bello took part in the Olympic Games four times . In 1948 he started in London with his brother Duarte Manuel Bello in the Swallow boat class and finished the regatta in second place. Behind David Bond and Stewart Morris from Great Britain, the two brothers secured the silver medal with 5579 points. At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 and in Rome in 1960 , he was a crew member of his brother Duarte Manuel, who was the helmsman of the Portuguese boat in the 5.5 meter class . While in 1952 he just missed another medal win in fourth place, he did not get beyond 16th place in 1960. In 1964 he took eighth place with Duarte Manuel in Tokyo in the star boat . In the star boat, the two brothers won the bronze and silver medal together at the World Championships in Cascais in 1952 and 1962.
