Fernando Cámara

Fernando Cámara (born June 7, 1951 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican sound engineer .

Life

Cámara first studied at the University of Puerto Rico and graduated from the London Film School . He began his film career in the late 1970s, his film debut was the Mexican comedy María de mi corazón by Jaime Humberto Hermosillo . In 1984 he worked as a sound assistant on John Huston's Mexican-US co-production Unter dem Vulkan , which was followed by other such co-productions, including the comedy Darling, I've Shrunk the Children and the science fiction film The Arrival . From the mid-1990s he was also involved in pure Hollywood productions such as William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet and Master & Commander - To the End of the World . 2007 he was responsible for Apocalypto together with Kevin O'Connell and Greg P. Russell for the Oscar in the category Best Sound nominated.

As a result, Cámara turned back to the domestic film business, and works regularly on Mexican film productions. For his work there he was nominated four times for the Premio Ariel between 1997 and 2013 , and won the 2012 award for Días de gracia .
