Fernando Romay Pereiro (born September 23, 1959 in A Coruña ) is a former Spanish basketball player . The 2.13-meter-tall center , which was especially famous for its hook throwing , completed his entire professional career at Real Madrid , with which he won eight Spanish championships , five cup victories and nine international titles (2 × European Cup , 3 × European Cup Winners' Cup , 1 × Korać Cup , 3 × Intercontinental Cup ). Fernando Romay also completed a total of 174 games with the Spanish national basketball team , the greatest successes being the Vice European Championship in 1983 and the silver medal at the Summer Olympics in 1984 , when they were only defeated in the final against the overpowering USA .
