Fernando Ruocco (athlete)

Fernando Ruocco (born May 12, 1958 ) is a former Uruguayan athlete .

Career

Ruocco was active in the pole vault . At the South American Championships in 1975 he won the bronze medal. The following year he won the title at the Junior South American Championships in 1976 with a distance of 4.20 meters. In 1979 he also won the South American Championships in Bucaramanga . Two years later he was runner-up at the 1981 South American Championships . He took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1982 South American Games in Argentina . There he won silver with a jumped height of 4.80 meters. He was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas . In the Venezuelan capital he finished 6th in the pole vault competition with a jump of 4.85 meters .

Today (as of June 15, 2015) Ruocco is still the owner of the Uruguayan national record set on June 20, 1980 with a jump height of 5.00 meters .
