Fernando Salazar (born July 13, 1979 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a Mexican football player on the position of defender .
Life
society
Salazar received his first professional contract for the 1998/99 season with his hometown club Atlas Guadalajara , for which he - with a six-monthly break in early 2001 in service of Deportivo Toluca - played until the end of 2004.
At the turn of the year 2004/05 he moved to CF Pachuca , with whom he won the Mexican championship twice ( Clausura 2006 , Clausura 2007 ) and the CONCACAF Champions' Cup ( 2007 , 2008 ) as well as the Copa Sudamericana ( 2006 ) and the SuperLiga ( 2007 ) won.
In summer 2008 he moved to CA Monarcas Morelia , where he stayed until the end of 2010. After six months with Necaxa in early 2011, he is currently active for Club León in the second division .
National team
Salazar made his debut for the Mexican national team in the opening game of the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup , which was won 1-0 against Brazil on July 13, 2003. Salazar also took part in the final of the tournament, which was again won 1-0 against the same opponent - this time after extra time. His last international appearance had Salazar on February 15, 2006 in a friendly against South Korea, which was lost 1-0.
