Orchester classique de Montréal
The Orchester classique de Montréal (until 2019: Orchester de chambre McGill ) is a professional chamber orchestra from the Canadian city of Montreal .
It was founded in 1939 by the composer Alexander Brott and his wife, the violinist Lotte Brott . From the initial string quartet , an orchestra developed that to this day is usually composed of graduates from the McGill University Music Faculty .
Well-known guest musicians are invited regularly. These include Beaux Arts Trio , Maureen Forrester , Glenn Gould , Ida Haendel , Marilyn Horne , Lili Kraus , Yo-Yo Ma , Yehudi Menuhin , Dawid Oistrach , Jean-Pierre Rampal , Mstislaw Rostropowitsch , Peter Serkin , Isaac Stern and Joseph Szigeti . The ensemble has released numerous records and has performed several times abroad.
