The main telecommunications headquarters ( FMHptK ; Deutsche NALLA (National Long Lines Agency)) in the Wildstein barracks in Traben-Trarbach was a central office of the Bundeswehr to ensure command and communication during the Cold War .

assignment

The main telecommunications command was tasked with managing the area telecommunications leaders who were based in the individual upper post offices. On behalf of NATO , she performed national telecommunications tasks as the German NALLA. NALLA stands for National Long Lines Agency. The main telecommunications headquarters managed the switching authority in the Bundeswehr basic network and gave instructions to the 32 bunkered basic network switching and switching centers (GSVBw). As a result, military command could largely be guaranteed by relying on fixed telecommunications networks.

history

The telecommunications headquarters was founded on July 1, 1956 by decree of the Federal Ministry of Defense . The first seat of the commandant's office was the Ermekeil barracks in Bonn . In 1958 she was temporarily stationed in the Brückberg barracks in Siegburg . In 1959 it was relocated to the Wildstein barracks in Traben-Trarbach, and on June 22, 1959 the city became the official location of the Bundeswehr. The headquarters held a number of national and international meetings, which were attended by representatives from NATO member states.
