The Ferrarelle SpA is an international Italian beverage company . The total volume filled in the plants in Riardo and Boario is 830 million liters. Ferrarelle employs around 420 people and in 2007 generated sales of 169 million euros.

history

The company was founded in 1893 with the purpose of tapping the springs in Riardo, which were already used by the Romans in ancient times . In 1925, Ferrarelle became the property of the Violati family, who were already active in the mineral water business with Sangemini , creating the Sangemini-Ferrarelle Group.

In 1987 the Violati family sold the company to a consortium consisting of the French Danone Group, at that time still BSN, and the Ifil of the Agnelli family . In 1991 Ifil ceded its stake in Società Sangemini-Ferrarelle to Danone. Linked to this was the renaming in August 1991 to Italaquae SpA , in which the Società delle Acque e delle Terme di Boario was integrated in 1992 . At the same time the brands Sangemini and Fabia were separated from the company and sold. At the beginning of 2005 Italaquae was sold to the Italian LGR Holding and renamed again to its original name Ferrarelle .
