The Fire Department Decoration of Honor of the Free State of Saxony is an award given for active service in the volunteer fire department . It has been awarded in its new grading since June 5, 2018. It can be awarded to any volunteer fire brigade member after an active period of service. The design as a plug-in cross is also an "award for bravery" for courageous and determined behavior in the event of fire as well as for exceptional merits in fire protection.

Foundation purpose

The Free State of Saxony is donating a fire service badge of honor on a ribbon as state recognition for many years of active service in the volunteer fire department:

Award requirements

Fire Department Badge of Honor on the ribbon

The fire brigade decoration on the ribbon is awarded after the relevant active period of service after years of service (see foundation purpose). The time of actual entry into the fire service is decisive for the calculation of the active service period. The active period of service must have been completed without any significant interruption. Military service, alternative military service or a proven illness do not count as an interruption. If the active service time was performed by different volunteer fire brigades or was it interrupted by a fire brigade, the service times are to be summarized. Membership without service does not count as active service.

Fire brigade decoration as a plug-in cross

The fire brigade badge of honor as a plug-in cross is awarded for special services to the development of fire protection or for particularly courageous and determined behavior in the fight against fires and other emergencies in the Free State of Saxony. Long-term membership in the fire brigade and full-time performance of fire protection tasks are not sufficient grounds for an award. The fire brigade badge of honor as a plug-in cross in the gold level is only awarded after the award of the plug-in cross in silver. Skipping the silver level is therefore not permitted.
