A fire brigade technical center ( FTZ ), also a fire brigade technical center , is a fire service facility of the districts in some German federal states (especially in Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein) . Fire-fighting equipment is checked and maintained there and training courses are held.

Testing and maintenance

The FTZ usually have specialized workshops to test and maintain the technical equipment of the fire brigades. Examples are:

  • In a respiratory protection workshop compressed air bottles of breathing apparatus checked and, and the components of the respiratory protective equipment such as respirator or regulator checked, cleaned and repaired if necessary.
  • The fire engines including the loaded equipment are checked, repaired and serviced in a motor vehicle workshop .
  • In a Schlauchpflegerei or hose washing are fire hoses checked, cleaned and dried.
  • In a radio workshop , the vehicle radios , radio signal receivers , but also the stationary transmission systems and siren controls are repaired and maintained.

The activities are usually based on standard , test and UVV regulations.

Courses

  • In the basic training (or troop men 1 and 2 ), the new fire brigade members are trained in the basic things (e.g. rights / obligations, regulations, vehicles, fire / emergency services according to FwDV 3 etc.).
  • In the radio operator training, the participants are brought closer to the functionality, the types and types of radio communication and the structure of a message.
  • The respiratory protective equipment training course trains the emergency services in the use of respiratory protective equipment in action and conducts a performance test on the participants.
  • In the machinist course, the handling of technical equipment is taught. These include fire pumps , power generators , chainsaws, etc.

In addition, some centers also offer further training in topics such as dangerous goods or emergency rescue for breathing apparatus wearers .
