Fidon R. Mwombeki

Fidon R. Mwombeki (* 1960 ) is a Tanzanian Protestant pastor , missionary and union manager . On April 5, 2018, he was elected General Secretary of the All Africa Conference of Churches .

Career

After obtaining his university entrance qualification , he studied Protestant theology . He studied economics in the USA and received an MBA. After submitting his thesis to the history of mission he was from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul (Minnesota) , of a theological college Evangelical Lutheran Church in America , as doctor of theology doctorate . After his ordination as a pastor, he looked after congregations in Tanzania and Sweden . In the church association “ United Evangelical Mission ” (UEM) he became a consultant for mission and evangelism . In his home church he became general secretary of the Northwest Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). Since 2005, Mwombeki has been an evangelist at the United Evangelical Mission in Wuppertal . The board of directors of the UEM elected him its general secretary - an office he has held since 2006.

He was a member of the Christian Peace Conference , at the VI. He took part in the All-Christian Peace Assembly in Prague in 1985. Mwombeki sees his mission in close connection with evangelism and socio- ethical responsibility. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS , Tuberculosis and Malaria from 2002 to 2004 . He advocates a humane design of globalization based on Christian faith . At a synod meeting of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland in 2005, he gave a contribution on "Globalization from an African perspective"

Since October 2009 he has been a member of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD).
